Erath Middle School is still on track to produce a 2019-2020 yearbook!
- There are a few pictures from events that were cancelled that will not be in the book, but every effort is being made to include as much information and memories from this unusual year as we can!
- Quite a few students ordered them at school and online in February for the yearbook drive. Copies are still available for purchase ($30) by going online to Herff Jones yearbook order center:
https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/then enter in the Erath Middle Order Number: 17975
-Many of us have been busy spending time at home and together more often, and some of you have come up with some very creative projects or things to do. We’d like to include in the yearbook some photos showing what students/families/teachers have been up to during their quarantine or social distancing time. You can even include an explanation of what you are doing.
- If you would like to contribute any images (appropriate photos only) of your activities over the last few weeks or in the upcoming weeks, you can do so using one of the following methods:
1. www.hjeshare.com and enter their school code: 17975.
2. Or, you can also simply go to http://www.hjeshare.com/eShare/?code=HJ17975 to bypass the login screen.
3. Also check out the eShare iPhone and Android apps in their respective app stores. These are a great way to contribute photos from mobile phones.

“A” School Again! We are excited to announce that for the 5th year in a row, we are, once again, an “A” school in one of the highest performing school districts in Louisiana. Our School Performance Score (SPS) is a 94.4 A. Erath Middle School has also been recognized as an "Equity Honoree" and a "Top Gains Honoree" for demonstrating excellence in serving economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, and/or English language learners. This is a true testament to our school community’s commitment to high academic standards.

For the past several years, students at EMS have surpassed Louisiana’s LEAP 2025 goal for students scoring at mastery and advanced levels. Erath Middle School’s academic success would not be possible without an entire network of people with a clear vision.  We have teachers who are true models of life-long learning. We have parents and community members who support all that we do. And, most of all, we have students who strive for excellence on a daily basis.

We are so proud to say that at Erath Middle School: “This is how we do school!”

School Performance scores are out. Some changes as to how they calculate scores are available. You can see more about that here!

April 19, 2020 Update!

Recently the Governor announced that schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. We know this is a challenging time for our community.  In an effort to support our families and students during this extended school closure, our central office staff and school leaders have collaborated to develop a Continuous Learning Plan for our district. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/183mlQYT9wcdgLAH1prieLXSbyIMu1x7Ae-ptnH5gDE0/edit?fbclid=IwAR2SeDIENq21SFoPlQeChL-qVS_vVMJ-KsV0vrvDXiAZGfmkn1tLMdym5rE#heading=h.jzkedec7bgo2) This plan outlines our step by step process to ensure that ALL students receive instructional support during this extended closure. This support will continue well into the 2020-2021 school year when all students and staff return safely to our schools.

Beginning April 20th - April 22nd, teachers and school administrators will be calling parents of their students, as part of our Vermilion Community Call-Out Mission. Teachers want to check in on our families and provide information regarding end of the year grades, waiving of state testing and our Supplemental Continuous Learning Guide.(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PhaQTgRsJ4TMOHEvBYmPH8eFuPqaBnAjUsngf3BOaeI/edit)  These phone calls may come to you from a “blocked number” or “No Caller ID”. We encourage you to accept our teacher's phone calls and hear about all of the wonderful support we are prepared to offer!  Please visit our district website at https://www.vpsb.net under our COVID-19 Information Page to view our extensive Continuous Learning Plan.

April 3, 2020 Update!

Vermilion Parish public schools will remain closed through April 30th. This decision follows the Governor's proclamation issued today regarding the 'stay at home' order. Please continue to visit the COVID-19 Resources Link on the https://www.vpsb.net/ website. Thoughts and prayers are with our students, staff, families, and communities at this time.

Due to the Governor’s proclamation on 3/13/2020, Vermilion Parish Public Schools and Central Office are being closed beginning March 16th to April 17th. The Governor’s proclamation closes school from March 16th - April 13th. Our closure continues through the Vermilion Parish spring break April 10th - April 17th.  Students and staff report back to school on April 20th, unless further closures are announced by the Governor.

Updates will be posted on the VPSB website (www.vpsb.net) and will also be shared through the news media.  All schools and central office will be closed during this time.  All school sponsored events and athletic games and practices are cancelled immediately and until further notice.   Our thoughts and prayers are with all of our students, staff, families and community. Text from the Vermilion Parish Interim Superintendent’s office. Date: 3-16-2020

In order to preserve equitable educational opportunities, the Vermilion Parish School System has elected not to engage in distance learning. All instructional pacing and grading will be suspended until further notice. Teachers have been advised not to require any type of assignments. The only exceptions are for high school students taking dual enrollment courses, as these are part of the university system. At the request of parents, online resources are available at https://www.vpsb.net/205029_2. The Louisiana Department of Education has approved initial waivers for a number of educational policies that impact all students, including students with disabilities. All special education instructional services and Section 504 accommodations will resume when school reopens.
